For those keeping score, the scoreboards in the gymnasium were so old that no one is really sure how old they were. “Maybe sometime in the ’70s?” guesses Athletic Director Greg Luna.
What Luna did know is that the scoreboards were so old that it was no longer possible to find spare parts or keep them in repair.
Enter the SPHS Booster Club.
With its contribution of $8,800 added to funding provided by the school district, the Booster Club made it possible to replace both with state-of-the-art new scoreboards in January.
“We thought this was a great investment, given that the scoreboards will benefit not just all of our basketball teams, but volleyball, wrestling and badminton as well,” says Booster President Kate Gibson. “Call it a win-win-win-win.”
